FAQs
GENERAL QUESTIONS
What should I expect during my first session?
Your first session will begin with a brief consultation to discuss your health history, current concerns, and goals for treatment. Based on this, your therapist will tailor the session to your individual needs. For massage, you will be asked to undress to your comfort level, and for Reiki and Pelvic Floor Therapy, you will remain fully clothed.
How should I prepare for my session?
Drink plenty of water before your session, and wear loose, comfortable clothing if you’re receiving Reiki, or other therapies that don’t require undressing. You may also want to avoid heavy meals right before the session.
Will I feel sore after my session?
Some clients may feel a little soreness after a deep tissue massage, similar to post-workout soreness. This is normal and usually subsides within a day. It’s important to stay hydrated and take it easy after the session. Reiki and other light-touch therapies generally do not cause physical soreness.
How do I cancel or reschedule my appointment?
You can cancel or reschedule your appointment up to 24 hours before your scheduled time. Please contact us directly or use our online booking system, Walla, to make changes to your appointment.
What payment methods do you accept?
We accept all major credit cards, debit cards, and online payments through our booking system, Walla. Please check with the front desk for more details.
What is your late or no-show policy?
If you arrive late, your session may need to be shortened to accommodate the next client. No-shows may result in a full charge for the session. Please review our cancellation policy for full details.
SERVICE SPECIFIC QUESTIONS
Does acupuncture hurt?
This is one of the most common questions—and thankfully, the answer is usually no. Most people feel little to no discomfort as the needles are extremely thin, about the width of a human hair. You might experience a brief pinching sensation, a dull ache, or a feeling of heaviness at the needle site, all of which are normal and typically fade quickly. If any sensation is uncomfortable, your acupuncturist can adjust or remove the needle to ensure you remain at ease. Many clients feel deeply relaxed—or even drowsy—during treatment.
What happens during an acupuncture session?
During your acupuncture session, thin, sterile needles are gently inserted and remain in place for about 20–30 minutes while they stimulate the flow of qi—your body’s vital energy. This helps move qi to areas where it’s needed and clear areas of stagnation, supporting your body’s natural healing response. All you need to do is lie comfortably in a softly lit, peaceful room and relax.
From a Western medical perspective, acupuncture points are thought to stimulate nerves, muscles, and connective tissues, which can increase blood flow and activate the release of endorphins—your body’s natural pain relievers. Depending on your needs, additional therapies such as moxibustion, cupping, gua sha, or electro-acupuncture may be included in your treatment.
What are the benefits of Reiki?
Reiki promotes deep relaxation, reduces stress, and enhances the body’s natural healing processes. It is also thought to help balance energy and bring clarity to emotional and spiritual issues.
What are the benefits of foot reflexology?
Foot reflexology promotes relaxation, improves circulation, and supports overall well-being by targeting pressure points that correspond to different organs and systems in the body.
What can I expect from a Chinese Herbal Consultation?
During a Chinese Herbal Consultation, your practitioner will take a thorough health history and assess your current symptoms using Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) diagnostic methods. Based on this, a personalized herbal formula will be recommended to address the root of the issue—not just the symptoms. Herbs may come in tablet, capsule, or liquid form and are of the highest quality, tested for safety, potency, and purity. Remedies for pain, immune support, colds, and flus may also be available. Chinese herbs are generally gentle, well-tolerated, and work beautifully alongside acupuncture to enhance its healing effects.
